Since my PhD I have worked on various projects related to bacterial membrane transport and signalling. While at the University of Glasgow (UK) I demonstrated that an unusual uptake system found in some Gram-negative bacteria imports a fully folded protein into the periplasm - first documented example of bacteria importing folded proteins. In 2023 I was awarded the Broodbank Research Fellowship to continue studying this system using interdisciplinary techniques - molecular, biophysical, structural as well as in vivo.
